Lihannan Sidhe

As you can tell, I love designing backless dresses. This romantic, purple chiffon dress is perfect for special occasions. I named it Lihannan Sidhe, which is the name for a Scottish fairy. What do you think of this design? I would love both negative and positive feedback.

"
Leanan Sidhe is the famous Celtic muse with such a dark and incomparable beauty that her lover was often distraught with longing and suffering for her absence. Because Gaelic poets died at a very young age, this spirit is considered an evil fairy. As W.B. Yeats states in his book Fairy and Folk Tales of Ireland she grew restless and carried them away to other worlds, for death does not destroy her power."

Morgana Dress

Each of my signature dresses come with hang tags that include an image and description of the inspiring fairy. The Morgana dress is one of my favorite designs. It is a corset dress made with luxurious rhinestones.

Wardrobing

Wardrobing is when you make a purchase, use it and then return it for a refund. This is a big problem in the apparel industry and billions are lost every year. Bloomingdales tactic to combat this practice is to attach three-inch black plastic tags to garments in visible places. They are called Black Tags and usually attached to higher priced items, especially ladies evening wear. Your garment purchase will be non-refundable if you try to return one of these items without that tag.

I went into Bloomingdales the other day and purchased a beautiful dress for New Year’s Eve. It had a Black Tag on it, which I didn’t mind. I took it home, tried it on my with shoes and didn’t like it. Returned it back tagged 2 weeks later with no problems. I really don’t see a problem with this process. However, I was reading some comments HERE and some people are very unhappy with this policy. A few people feel that they are being treated like criminals. Other’s feel that it’s just bad customer service.

What do you think about this subject? Agree or Disagree?

My favorite fairy artist, Brian Froud

"Once upon a time, I thought faeries lived only in books, old folktales, and the past. That was before they burst upon my life as vibrant, luminous beings, permeating my art and my everyday existence, causing glorious havoc…."
- Brian Froud

Brian Froud is hands down my favorite fantasy/fairy illustrator and story teller. I stumbled upon my first Froud book in 2004, “Good Fairies, Bad Fairies”, looking for adult fairy tales. I brought this book home and couldn’t put it down, finished it in a few short hours. The written details in this book and his others are so fun to read. The illustrations are fascinating and intricate. Anyone who loves myths, legends and magic will be in awe.

Here are some photos I snapped from my book for you from the Good Fairies, Bad Fairies book. They ARE a little scary and aren’t for little kids.

Morgana, who is the inspiration for my black corset dress (which I will share with you in January), is also featured in this book. Part faery and part human, she is one of the most powerful faery queens in existence. Morgana has also been mentioned in Wizard Merlin’s adventures. When I designed this dress, I wanted it to match her personality which is seductive, beautiful and magical. That’s how I want my customer’s to feel when they slip into this dress. Can’t wait to share it with you all!
